What Is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a manual therapeutic approach to health. Osteopaths use manual procedures to relieve muscular, ligamentous and other tissue stress that have a detrimental effect on health.

The philosophy of Osteopathy states that the body has a natural ability to heal itself.  By relieving tissue stresses, circulation of body fluids can return to a more normal state and the body’s own healing mechanisms can be stimulated.

Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation

of Australia & New Zealand

Face course July 2003: Faculty members and delegates

The Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation of Australia and New Zealand (SCTF of ANZ) was first established in 1990 with the objective of advancing the education of osteopathic practitioners in Australia and New Zealand.  The way in which it undertook to facilitate this was by providing the academic and practical information necessary for practitioners to apply cranial osteopathy in the clinical situation and promoting research into cranial osteopathy.

Since its establishment, the SCTF of ANZ has been running high quality educational programs for qualified osteopaths and has sponsored a number of research projects.  It is also active in the preservation of the teachings of the osteopath who established the concept of osteopathy in the cranial field, Dr William Sutherland.

The SCTF of ANZ is an affiliate of the SCTF in the United States of America.
